On June 14th, marking World Blood Donor Day, the campus of T K Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara transformed into a hub of life-saving activity. The college’s 8K BN NCC, Mavelikkara unit hosted a highly successful voluntary blood donation camp, embodying the spirit of selflessness and community service.

The event, running from 09:30 AM to 01:30 PM, saw an inspiring turnout of student cadets and volunteers eager to make a difference. Under the powerful banner of "Together, we save lives," the camp aimed to raise awareness about the constant need for safe blood and the crucial role of voluntary donors.

The World Blood Donor Day camp at T K Madhava Memorial College was a resounding success, proving once again that when the NCC cadets come together, they bring hope and tangible help to those who need it most. Every drop counts!

Protecting Our Shores: "Together for a Cleaner Tomorrow"

The beautiful coastlines of our state got a much-needed breath of fresh air recently, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the 8K BN NCC, Mavelikkara unit from T K Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara.

Recognizing the urgent need to address coastal pollution, the NCC cadets organized a comprehensive Beach Cleaning drive. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and an unwavering sense of duty, the students and volunteers worked tirelessly to remove plastic waste and debris scattered along the shore.

Highlights of the Initiative:

  • Active Youth Participation: Dozens of cadets stepped out of their classrooms to actively participate in the hands-on cleanup.

  • Environmental Awareness: The drive not only restored the natural beauty of the beach but also sent a strong message to the local community and visitors about responsible waste disposal and marine conservation.

In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, the PG & Research Department of Physics at T K Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, is calling on all students to showcase their photographic talents for a cause.

The department is organizing a campus-wide Photography Contest aimed at inspiring students to observe, appreciate, and document the natural world around them.

The Theme: Nature Through Your Lens

The contest invites students to capture images that tell a story about our environment. Whether it's a stunning landscape, a close-up of local flora and fauna, or a thought-provoking image about conservation, the goal is to highlight:

  • Environmental awareness

  • Biodiversity

  • Sustainability

  • Natural beauty

Contest Guidelines & Rules

To ensure a fair and high-quality competition, participants must adhere to the following rules:

  • Eligibility: The contest is open to all students.

  • Originality: Participants must submit one original photograph.

  • Authenticity: While basic editing is permitted, AI-generated images are strictly prohibited.

  • Format: Submissions must be in JPEG format, with high-resolution images highly preferred.

Sparking Environmental Awareness: Department of English Leads World Environment Day 2026

 






In celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, the Department of English at T. K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, took proactive steps to engage students in eco-conscious thinking. By partnering with the college's student clubs, the department successfully hosted two engaging campus-wide events designed to inspire change and test environmental knowledge.


1. Online Environmental Quiz: "Test Your Knowledge. Inspire Change."

To kick off the celebrations, the Department of English collaborated with the Reading Club to host an interactive Online Quiz.

  • The Theme: Operating under the powerful banner of "Our Planet. Our Responsibility. Our Future," the quiz challenged students to assess their understanding of global environmental issues.

  • The Goal: The event aimed to prove that a "small step today for you [can be] a big change for our planet." By making the quiz open to all students, the organizers ensured a broad reach, encouraging participants from all disciplines to reflect on their environmental footprint.

2. Caption Writing Contest: "Small Captions. Big Impact."

Later in the afternoon, at 1:30 PM, the focus shifted to creative expression. Partnering with the Communication Skill Development Club, the department hosted a dynamic Caption Writing Contest.

  • The Challenge: Students were provided with a picture on the spot and tasked with crafting an original, creative, and meaningful English caption within a strict 10–15 word limit.

  • The Message: The contest was driven by the inspiring quotes "One Earth. One Chance. Let your words make a difference" and "Let your words inspire a greener tomorrow." * The Outcome: The competition not only tested the students' linguistic skills but also their ability to distill complex environmental messages into powerful, bite-sized calls to action.

Through these intellectually stimulating and creative events, the Department of English at T. K. Madhava Memorial College successfully transformed World Environment Day from a simple observance into an active platform for student engagement. By challenging students to both know better and speak louder for the planet, the college continues to foster a community of environmentally responsible citizens.

On June 5, 2026, T K Madhava Memorial (TKMM) College, Nangiarkulangara, served as the proud venue for a grand World Environment Day celebration. The event was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by the Department of Zoology (TKMM College), the Kerala Forest & Wildlife Department (Social Forestry Wing, Alappuzha), and the Alappuzha Natural History Society (ANHS).

The initiative was driven by a powerful message: "Let's reclaim the earth and preserve it for the next generation." Through speeches, awareness campaigns, and tree-planting activities, the event aimed to instill a deep sense of environmental responsibility among students and the local community.

On May 30, 2026, T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara successfully hosted an insightful online multidisciplinary seminar titled DARSHAN'26. The virtual event brought together students, faculty, and scholars to reflect on the profound teachings of one of Kerala's greatest social reformers.

The seminar was a collaborative effort, organized jointly by the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Department of Oriental Languages, and the Department of English. This multidisciplinary approach highlighted the universal relevance of the seminar's core theme: "The Educational Philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru."

The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed Dr. C. Lekha. Dr. Lekha brings a wealth of academic experience to the subject, serving as:

  • Associate Professor & Former HOD, Department of Malayalam at Sree Narayana College, Cherthala.

  • Academic Counsellor in Malayalam for Sree Narayana Guru Open University.

Her deep understanding of Malayalam literature and Sree Narayana Guru's social impact provided attendees with a rich, nuanced perspective on how his philosophies continue to shape modern education and social equality.

Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, successfully hosted an exclusive Online Career Guidance & FYUGP Orientation on May 28, 2026.

Designed specifically for Plus Two students preparing to take their next major academic leap, the programme aimed to align ambitious young minds with the right educational pathways, staying true to our institutional motto: Liberate through Education.

The highlight of the evening was a comprehensive session led by the esteemed Sri. Ratheesh Kumar S, renowned Career Counsellor and Anchor at Doordarshan Career Point. Bringing his wealth of experience to the virtual stage, he provided students with a structured roadmap for navigating the newly introduced Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).

Throughout the engaging 7:00 PM session, the core focus remained on actionable advice. Key highlights of his address included:

  • Exploring the Right Career Path: Moving beyond traditional choices to uncover modern, high-demand opportunities.

  • Gaining Clarity & Expert Guidance: Breaking down complex FYUGP structures into digestible, easy-to-understand concepts.
