“Onam 2K26: Exploring Kerala’s Indigenous Knowledge and Living Traditions” by Department of English on 17th August 2026
As part of the Onam celebration under the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) initiative, studentsand teachers of the Department of English presented various traditional art forms associated with Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. The programme featured traditional Onam songs, Vanchipattu (boat songs), and Thiruvathira, providing an opportunity for students to experience and preserve Kerala’s indigenous artistic traditions. The performances highlighted the role of oral traditions, folk music, rhythm, dance and collective participation in transmitting cultural knowledge from one generation to the next. Through these performances, the celebration served as a meaningful platform for promoting awareness of Kerala’s living cultural heritage and strengthening the values of community, togetherness and cultural continuity.

in association with T.I.M.E.

A career awareness workshop on “Competitive Examinations & Career Opportunities” was
organised by the Career Guidance and
Placement Cell of T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, in
association with TIME Institution,
at the college seminar hall on Thursday.The programme aimed at creating
awareness among students about various competitive examinations and career
opportunities in India and abroad. Siyad
S., Career Development Mentor, TIME Institution, served as the resource
person and provided students with valuable guidance on career planning and
examination preparation.
The
session covered opportunities in MBA
programmes in India, CAT and top B-schools, MBA/MIM programmes abroad, GMAT,
GRE and IELTS, along with banking
and insurance examinations such as SBI, IBPS, RBI and LIC, SSC and Central
Government examinations. The resource person also discussed selection
processes and effective preparation strategies.
The programme began with a prayer by Ms. Pooja. Dr. Divya S. Rajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Venu S., Principal, T.K. Madhava Memorial College, presided over the function. Dr. Aswathy S. P., IQAC Coordinator, offered felicitations.The workshop provided students with practical insights into competitive examinations and helped them understand various career pathways and opportunities. Ms. Asna Shajahan proposed the vote of thanks.
INAUGURATION OF GENDER JUSTICE FORUM and Invited talk by Fr. Bibin Ezhuplackal on 13th August 2026
Gender Justice Forum of T.K.M.M College organized a programme on “Gender Justice – Respecting Strengths, Ensuring Equality” to sensitize students and faculty about the importance of gender justice in academic and social life.
Forum was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Bibin Ezhuplackal MCBS, noted filmmaker, storyteller, and social media influencer. The inauguration was marked by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, followed by his inaugural address.
Fr. Bibin Ezhuplackal explained the importance of gender justice, emphasizing that while men and women differ in mental, physical, and emotional strengths, true justice lies in respecting these differences and ensuring fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all.To make the session engaging, he used film clippings, slides, and interactive discussions to illustrate how inclusiveness and respect can foster harmony in educational institutions, workplaces, and society.The event was enlightening and motivational, reaffirming the college’s dedication to promoting gender justice. The lamp lighting and inaugural address by Father Bibin Ezhuplackal set a solemn and inspiring tone, ensuring that the Forum begins its academic year with clarity of vision and purpose.
Observance of National Librarian's Day by the Department of Mathematics on 12th August 2026

Unit Number: 39A&B, organized a programme in connection with National
Librarian’s Day on 11 August 2026 (Tuesday) at 3:00 PM
at the Central Library. National Librarian’s Day is observed
in India every year on 12 August to commemorate the birth
anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, a Mathematician and the
Father of Library Science in India. A total of 38 participants attended the
programme.
The programme was organized with the objective of recognizing the
significant role of libraries and librarians in the academic community. The
celebration highlighted the importance of libraries as centres of knowledge, learning,
research and intellectual development. It also provided an opportunity to
acknowledge the dedicated services of the library staff in supporting the
academic activities of the institution.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Sinumol S, Head of the Department and NSS Programme Officer. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Venu S, Principal, T.K. Madhava Memorial College. In his address, he emphasized the significant role of the library in supporting teaching, learning and research activities. He also appreciated the dedicated services rendered by the library staff.
As part of the celebration, UGC Librarian Ms. Rakhi Raj and Library Assistant Mr. Jithin Prakash were honoured for their valuable and dedicated service to the institution. The felicitation recognized their sincere efforts in maintaining the library and providing assistance to students and faculty members in their academic activities. The programme highlighted the enduring relevance of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan’s contributions to library science and emphasized the importance of developing reading habits and making effective use of library resources.
The programme was effectively coordinated by Dr. S. Salu, Ms. Gopika P, and Ms. Aiswarya Raj K. S. Their coordinated efforts contributed to the smooth and successful conduct of the programme. The event concluded with appreciation and gratitude to the librarian and library assistant for their continuous commitment and service to the college community. The celebration served as a meaningful occasion to acknowledge the library as an essential center of knowledge and learning.

Inauguration Of Indian Knowledge System Club on 11th August 2026
The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Club of T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, organised the inauguration of the club on 11th August 2026 at 11.00 AM in the Seminar Hall of the college. The programme was organised with the objective of introducing students to the rich and diverse knowledge traditions of India and promoting awareness of indigenous knowledge, traditional healthcare practices and sustainable living.
The programme commenced with the Welcome Speech delivered by Smt. Parvathy A. V., IKS Club Coordinator. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Venu S., Principal of the College, who highlighted the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems in contemporary education and the importance of preserving and transmitting traditional knowledge to younger generations.
The IKS Club was formally inaugurated by Dr. Ganga B. S., Retd. Senior Medical Officer, Department of Indian Medical System. In her inaugural address, she spoke about the significance of India's traditional knowledge, particularly indigenous healthcare practices and the relevance of medicinal plants in maintaining health and well-being. Dr. Aswathy S. P., IQAC Coordinator, delivered the felicitation address. She appreciated the initiative of establishing the IKS Club and emphasised the role of such activities in creating awareness among students about India's traditional knowledge heritage.
A major highlight of the programme was the introduction and planting of medicinal plants associated with the traditional knowledge system. Students and faculty members actively participated in the planting activity, providing them with practical exposure to the identification, preservation and significance of indigenous medicinal plants. The activity also reinforced the importance of environmental sustainability and the traditional practice of using locally available plants for health and well-being.
The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. The event provided an effective platform for creating awareness about India's rich intellectual, cultural, environmental and healthcare traditions.
The inauguration of the IKS Club marked an important step towards encouraging students to explore and appreciate India's traditional knowledge heritage while understanding its relevance in contemporary life. The practical planting activity further strengthened students' awareness of indigenous medicinal plants, environmental sustainability and traditional healthcare practices.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Aliya Muhammad Habeeb, Student Convenor and Vice Chairperson of the IKS Club. She expressed gratitude to the Principal, resource person, IQAC Coordinator, faculty members, students and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

PPT Presentation Competition on 27 July 2026 at the Seminar Hall. The programme
was conducted as part of the Moon Day celebrations and provided students with
an opportunity to explore recent developments in lunar exploration and present
scientific ideas in an engaging manner.

Conduct of πZZLE- CROSSWORD PUZZLE COMPETITION by DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS on 22nd July 2026
The Department of Mathematics and
Statistics, T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, organised a Crossword Puzzle Competition-
ZZLE on 22 July 2026 in connection with Pi
Approximation Day. The programme aimed to promote logical thinking,
mathematical knowledge and teamwork among students through an engaging
crossword puzzle activity based on mathematical concepts.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Sinumol S, Head of the
Department, who highlighted the significance of Pi
Approximation Day and encouraged students to actively participate in
mathematical activities beyond the classroom.
A total of 39 students
participated in the competition. The participants were divided into 7 teams, and each team was provided with
a specially designed mathematics crossword puzzle containing clues related to
Pi, famous mathematicians, mathematical symbols, and concepts. The teams worked
collaboratively to solve the puzzle within the allotted time. The competition
was efficiently coordinated and conducted by Dr. Dhanya Shajin, Dr. Salu S, Ms.
Gopika P, and Ms. Aiswarya Raj K S, whose efforts ensured the smooth execution
of the event.
After careful evaluation of the completed crossword puzzles, the results
were announced. Group 5 secured the First Prize for their outstanding
performance, while Group 6 won
the Second Prize.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Lt. Seena V, Principal in-charge who congratulated the winners and appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of all the students. The programme concluded on a positive note, successfully fostering teamwork, mathematical reasoning, and enthusiasm for problem-solving while making the celebration of Pi Approximation Day both meaningful and enjoyable for all participants.

The Yuva College Union 2025–26 of T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara organized Film Fest 2026 on 15 July 2026 at the Seminar Hall. The event was conducted with the objective of promoting an appreciation for cinema as a medium of artistic expression, cultural awareness, and social reflection among students.
The Film Fest featured two screening sessions, with the first show held from 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and the second show from 1.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Students from various departments enthusiastically participated in the event, making it a vibrant and engaging campus activity.
Workshop on "Molecular Docking Made Simple" by The Postgraduate Department of Chemistry on 22nd June 2026

Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara organized a Workshop on "Molecular
Docking Made Simple" on 22 June 2026 at
the CADD
Lab, Department of Chemistry, from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
The workshop was conducted to provide participants with a practical
introduction to molecular docking techniques and their applications in modern
drug discovery.
The programme
commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Aswathy S. P., Head of the Department and
Workshop Coordinator, who welcomed the resource person and
participants. She highlighted the growing importance of computational
approaches in pharmaceutical research and emphasized the need for students to
acquire hands-on skills in molecular modelling and docking. The workshop was
aimed to give an introductory session for S5 FYUGP students and M.Sc. Chemistry
students.
The technical
session was handled by Dr. Sreeja V., Assistant Professor, S.N. College,
Punalur. Through an engaging blend of theory and practical
demonstrations, she introduced the fundamentals of molecular docking, ligand
and receptor preparation, docking protocols, interpretation of binding
interactions, and the significance of docking studies in structure-based drug
design. Participants also gained hands-on experience using molecular docking
software to perform basic docking simulations and analyze the results. About 18
students were able to complete the workshop.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion, during which participants clarified their queries and shared their learning experiences. Ms. Sonima V proposed the vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the resource person for her valuable guidance, the Principal, faculty members, organizing committee, and all participants for contributing to the successful conduct of the workshop. The programme proved to be highly informative and skill-oriented, equipping students with a strong foundation in computational drug discovery techniques.
