As part of the Onam celebration under the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) initiative, studentsand teachers of the Department of English presented various traditional art forms associated with Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. The programme featured traditional Onam songs, Vanchipattu (boat songs), and Thiruvathira, providing an opportunity for students to experience and preserve Kerala’s indigenous artistic traditions. The performances highlighted the role of oral traditions, folk music, rhythm, dance and collective participation in transmitting cultural knowledge from one generation to the next. Through these performances, the celebration served as a meaningful platform for promoting awareness of Kerala’s living cultural heritage and strengthening the values of community, togetherness and cultural continuity.
