    The T K Madhava Memorial College's Entrepreneurship Development Club hosted a transformative four-day online workshop from December 12th to 15th, 2023, engaging 145 enthusiastic students. The opening day set the tone with a warm welcome speech by the club's convener, Assistant Professor Nisha T.V. The subsequent three days featured comprehensive training sessions conducted by Miss Suneera from Home Academy.













    Each day of the workshop was dedicated to mastering the art of cake making, with students learning and practicing new techniques. By the workshop's conclusion, participants were proficient in independently creating cakes, a skill especially timely for the upcoming Christmas festivities. The workshop not only imparted valuable culinary skills but also instilled a sense of confidence and independence among the students, aligning perfectly with the club's mission of nurturing entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

    On February 29, 2024, the T K Madhava Memorial College's Entrepreneurship Development Club organized a dynamic one-day workshop on soap making at the college seminar hall. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the college's Principal, Dr. P.P. Sharmila, who inaugurated the workshop. Smt. Nisha T.V., convener, ED club, & Assistant Professor of Commerce warmly welcomed the attendees with an opening speech.











    Spearheaded by Smt. Sajeena, the workshop provided a platform for approximately 75 enthusiastic students from diverse academic backgrounds to delve into the art of soap making. Through hands-on demonstrations and guidance, participants honed their skills and crafted their own unique soaps during the interactive session.

     An exciting aspect of the workshop was the opportunity for students to showcase and sell their handmade creations to faculty members from various departments. This not only served as a source of motivation for the students but also facilitated the practical application of their newly acquired soap-making skills.

    The success of the workshop underscored the ED club's overarching vision of "SELF DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SKILL DEVELOPMENT." By empowering students to explore entrepreneurial avenues and develop practical skills, the workshop marked a significant milestone in achieving the club's objectives. It served as a testament to the college's commitment to fostering holistic development and entrepreneurial spirit among its student body.

    At the end of the academic year, a staff photo was taken to commemorate the collective efforts and achievements of the faculty and staff members of TKMM College. The photo served as a visual representation of the cohesive and dedicated team that contributed to the success and growth of the institution throughout the year.

 The staff photo captured the essence of unity and collaboration among the members of the college community, highlighting the diversity of roles and responsibilities that each individual undertook to ensure the smooth functioning of the college.

 The photo session provided an opportunity for the staff to come together and celebrate their hard work and achievements, creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of camaraderie among the team.

 Send-off Function by Staff Association 'Sneha Sangamam' 2023-24

    The Staff Association of TKMM College organized a heartwarming send-off function, 'Sneha Sangamam,' on 27th March 2024, in the college seminar hall. The event was a tribute to the retiring Principal, Dr. P.P. Sharmila, HOD of Malayalam Department, Smt. Lekha KV, and office staff, Sri G. Sathoshkumar and K.S. Jagadheesh, for their dedicated service and valuable contributions to the institution.

    The function commenced with a warm welcome extended by Dr. Sheela S, the Secretary of the Staff Association. This was followed by a touching Presidential Speech by Dr. Jasmine Anand, the President of the Staff Association, who highlighted the remarkable journey and the significant impact of the retiring staff members.

    A series of felicitations ensued, with Smt. Mini R, HOD of Hindi, Dr. Rajeev SR, HOD of Economics, and Sri. Peethambaran R, the Office Superintendent, expressing their appreciation and best wishes to the retirees. They acknowledged their exemplary leadership, dedication, and positive influence on the college community.





     As a token of appreciation and gratitude, mementos and gifts were presented to Dr. P.P. Sharmila, Smt. Lekha KV, Sri G. Sathoshkumar, and K.S. Jagadheesh, amidst applause and emotional moments shared by the attendees.

    The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of Thanks delivered by Preetha MV, Asst. Prof of History, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to making the function a memorable one. She extended special thanks to the retirees for their invaluable service and wished them a fulfilling and joyful retired life.

After the formal part of the send-off function, the Staff Association organized entertaining programs to lighten the mood and provide a joyful atmosphere for all attendees.  Various staff members showcased their talents through cultural performances such as singing, dancing, skits, and poetry recitations. These performances not only entertained the audience but also served as a fitting tribute to the retirees, showcasing the diverse talents within the college community.

The retirees themselves were also invited to participate in the entertainment, adding a personal touch to the evening. This interactive and engaging session created a warm and nostalgic atmosphere, allowing everyone to reminisce about the memorable moments shared with the retirees over the years.


 Lok Sabha Election 2024-SVEEP Initiative : Second Prize Awarded to T.K.M.M. College in Alappuzha District's Quiz Contest

The quiz competition was part of the Lok Sabha Election 2024-SVEEP initiative, which aims to promote voter awareness and participation. It was specifically designed for students from colleges in Alappuzha district, including government, aided, and unaided colleges, as well as professional colleges. The event took place on April 1, 2024, at the Collectorate Conference Hall.





     District Collector Alexander Varghese inaugurated the program, highlighting the importance of youth engagement in the electoral process. The quiz format was conducted online using Google Forms, which allowed for easy participation and efficient management. Each team had to answer a series of questions within a time limit of 10 minutes, testing their knowledge on various topics related to elections, governance, and current affairs.

 Eleven teams from different colleges participated in the quiz, showcasing the enthusiasm and interest of students in civic activities. Ambady Aravind (II B.Sc. Mathematics) and Abhiraj R (II B.A. Economics) from T.K.M.M. College performed exceptionally well and secured the second prize. Their achievement reflects not only their individual knowledge but also the academic excellence fostered at T.K.M.M. College.

 The District Collector, recognizing the efforts and achievements of the participants, presented prizes and mementos to the winners. This acknowledgment not only rewards the winners but also serves as an encouragement for other students to actively participate in such initiatives, contributing to a more informed and engaged electorate.

 Study Tour Report: Chemistry & IC to Kodaikanal, Marayur, 

and Munnar

The Postgraduate Department of Chemistry, by organized a study tour for fifth-semester Chemistry and IC students from November 2-5, 2023 with Dr. T. Sreeja and Dr. V. Sreeja as tour coordinators. The tour covered three prominent destinations: Kodaikanal, Marayur, and Munnar, offering a comprehensive experience that blended academic learning with practical exposure.

The journey commenced in the evening of November 2, with students boarding the bus filled with excitement and enthusiasm. The first destination was Kodaikanal, known for its picturesque landscapes and cool climate. Upon arrival, students were taken to the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, where they learned about solar astronomy and the functioning of the observatory.

After a brief lunch break, the group visited the Kodaikanal Lake, where they had the opportunity to relax and enjoy boating. In the evening, a visit to the Coaker's Walk provided a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys, making it a perfect end to the first day.






The second day began with a visit to the Marayur Sandalwood Forests, where students learned about the cultivation and extraction of sandalwood. This was followed by a visit to the Thoovanam Waterfalls, offering a refreshing experience amidst nature's beauty. The day concluded with a bonfire and cultural program, allowing students to unwind and interact with each other.

On the third day, the group proceeded to Munnar, a renowned hill station famous for its tea gardens. The day started with a visit to the Tea Factory, where students learned about the history of tea cultivation in the region and the process of tea production.

Afterwards, the group visited the Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point, offering scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The day ended with a visit to the Top Station, the highest point in Munnar, providing panoramic views of the Western Ghats.

 

The study tour to Kodaikanal, Marayur, and Munnar provided students with a holistic learning experience and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

 Clean Campus Green Campus Drive-2

The Department of Mathematics spearheaded the "Clean Campus Green Campus Drive-2" on March 25, 2024, with a focus on revitalizing the college's green spaces. Led by the final year BSc Mathematics students, the initiative involved the removal of dried plants from the garden in front of the department, which were then replaced with fresh, vibrant ones.



Despite the scorching summer heat, the students showed admirable dedication to enhancing the campus environment. Beyond garden rejuvenation, they also undertook a thorough cleaning of the surrounding premises, highlighting their commitment to maintaining a clean and green campus.

Under the guidance of M K Sreenivasan, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics, the students displayed remarkable teamwork and enthusiasm. Their efforts not only beautified the campus but also underscored the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. The initiative serves as a shining example of proactive community engagement and sets a precedent for future sustainability efforts within the college.
