Sri. B. Sathish Kumar's Achievements and

Contributions

B. Sathish Kumar, Scientist Engineer G, Group Director LPSC ISRO , Govt of India, Valiamala Complex, Trivandrum-695547

B. Sathish Kumar, an alumnus of TKMMC Nangiarkulangara, who was part of the PDC 1 batch from 1979 to 1981. Currently serving as the Group Director at the Liquid Propulsion System Centre (LPSC/ISRO) in Valiamala, Trivandrum, Sathish Kumar has played a pivotal role in designing, developing, qualifying, and supplying crucial flow control valves for the recent Chandrayaan mission.

After completing his education, Sathish Kumar embarked on a distinguished career in space technology. Presently, as the Group Director at LPSC/ISRO, he has demonstrated exemplary leadership and expertise in the design, development, qualification, and supply of critical flow control valves for the Chandrayaan mission.

Sathish Kumar's group at LPSC has successfully contributed to the Chandrayaan mission by creating 62 flow control valves for both the Orbiter and the Lander components. Notably, these include 8 Throttilable Motor Operated Fuel Flow Control Valves (TFCVs) along with Solenoid Valves and Latch Valves. The TFCV, a key component, serves as the primary element responsible for regulating fuel flow to adjust the thrust of the Lander's Liquid Engine. This adjustment is crucial for achieving controlled deceleration and reducing speed during the Lander's soft landing, a challenging maneuver.

    B. Sathish Kumar's journey from being a student at TKMMC Nangiarkulangara to becoming a Group Director at LPSC/ISRO showcases the transformative power of education and determination. His accomplishments are a source of pride for his alma mater and serve as an inspiration for future generations of space enthusiasts.

21.08.2023 (MONDAY)

TIME: 10.30 Am – 11.30 Am

Today's first event was a group discussion. Interacted with B.com TT (S2) students. With this group, building rapport was easy. Initially, the counsellor presented a quick overview of the "JEEVANI" initiative. The students were then invited to introduce themselves. The counsellor then discussed the significance of both emotional and financial independence. Later, take some suggestions from the students for upcoming group discussions. A lively collection of youngsters made up the group.

Topic suggestions from students for future discussions:

1.       Screen time

2.       Toxic relationships

3.       Gender roles

4.       Stage fear

5.       Self confidence

6.       Anxiety, depression, low mood

7.       How to control emotion

8.       Overthinking

9.       How to break trauma bond

10.     Why there is an acceptance (high tolerance) of toxicity in girls?

Time: 12.00 pm – 12.45 pm

Today's second session was in Economics (S1) class. The counsellor began by providing a brief overview of the "Jeevan" project. Building rapport with this group was very difficult. The counsellor asked the students to give a self-introduction. Then  discussed extrovert and introverted personality traits. After that, when a student asked about the relationship between age and maturity, the counsellor discussed intelligence, its subdomains, its relationship with maturity, and the other factors that influence maturity. Even though the group was not that vibrant, it was a good discussion. Before leaving, the counsellor gave them an assignment. The counsellor asked the students to write about their core values in life and submit them the next day.

 Spreading Awareness on World Mosquito

Day through a Poster by NSS-TKMMC

The NSS unit of TKMM College undertook a commendable initiative to spread awareness on World Mosquito Day through a vibrant poster campaign on the 20th of August 2023. The campaign aimed to educate the college community about the importance of mosquito-borne disease prevention and promote responsible health practices.

NSS volunteers worked tirelessly to design and create visually engaging posters that communicated essential information about mosquito-borne diseases, their impact, and preventive measures. These posters were strategically displayed in prominent locations around the college campus, ensuring maximum visibility and exposure. The poster highlighted the significance of Mosquito Day, explaining its historical context and the pivotal role that mosquitoes play in transmitting diseases like malaria, dengue, and Zika. The posters also emphasized the importance of adopting preventive measures, such as maintaining clean surroundings, using mosquito nets, and avoiding stagnant water.

The NSS unit's commitment to creating awareness around health issues is commendable, and the success of this campaign reflects the unit's dedication to community welfare. Such initiatives not only contribute to the well-being of the college community but also empower individuals with knowledge that can extend beyond the campus.
