People with disabilities encounter unique challenges in their daily lives that set them apart from other members of society. Disability encompasses the difficulties in performing mental, physical, and social functions that are typically carried out by individuals without such impairments. The Social Justice Cell of the college is dedicated to integrating differently abled individuals into the mainstream of society. On December 2, the Social Justice Cell organized a quiz competition in collaboration with the Social Justice Department of Alappuzha. This initiative not only aimed to raise awareness about the rights and privileges of individuals with disabilities but also included various programs designed to support them.
SJC cell coordinator Preetha MV, alongside six enthusiastic volunteers—Midhun Krishna, Govardhan A, Afsal Shefeek, Prejith Prabha Kumar, Fathima Hakkim, and Abhijitha K—participated in the "Unarv" (ഉണർവ്) District Arts Festival for differently abled individuals, held in Punnapra, Alappuzha, and organized by the Social Justice Cell of Alappuzha. The festival was inaugurated by the Hon. MLA of Ambalapuzha, HA Salam, and attended by numerous distinguished guests. The volunteers played a vital role in facilitating the event and supporting individuals with disabilities in showcasing their cultural programs. Notably, Govardhan A and Prejith Prabha Kumar were awarded the MLA Trophy for their outstanding performance in the quiz competition conducted at the college on December 2.
Additionally, the college's Social Justice Cell was honored with an award from the District Social Justice Cell, Alappuzha, in recognition of its dedicated activities and cooperation. DYSP K G Sajimon was present to distribute the award, which served as a profound inspiration for the cell’s future endeavors.
