As part of creating Extensive and Comprehensive Health Awareness among students in Kerala, the State National Service Scheme (NSS)'s flagship programme -Yuvajagaran – IEC Van Campaign, jointly organized with the Kerala State AIDS Control Society, visited T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara. The programme was inaugurated by the college principal, Prof. Dr. Rajeev S.R. NSS Alappuzha District Co- ordinator and Yuvajagaran Nodal Member Mrs. Preetha M.V, Yuvajagaran Alappuzha District Nodal Officer and associate professor of physics from Alappuzha S.D. College Dr. Lakshmi S, and Nodal Member& a senior NSS volunteer of SD college Mr. Gopikrishnan K addressed the gathering.As part of HIV awareness, Mr. Rahul A.R., Medical Counselor at Mavelikkara District Hospital, visited the campus. He interacted with the students, cleared their doubts regarding HIV, and provided information on the specific causes for the disease as well as the government’s treatment facilities like pulari, Ushas etc. The Yuvajagaran IEC Van Campaign team was welcomed by the college Program Officer, Mr. Sanoop Sivaraman. The Kakkarissi Natakam staged by Mudra School of Performing Arts, Pathanamthitta, carrying the message “From One to Zero,” offered the students a thought-provoking experience. A flash mob performed by the college students added more charm to the event. The program, which strongly upheld the messages of health awareness and social responsibility, made a deep impact on the students. Students from Sree Narayana Guru College of Advanced Studies also joined to witness the programme. The VAN campaign became a memorable event, and it succeeded in eliminating the ignorance and social stigma regarding HIV .
