Maths with Heart – A Christmas Charity Initiative

 


                                                   


As part of the Christmas charity initiative of the Department of Mathematics, the programme “Maths with Heart” was organized in association with the Swanthanam Charitable Society, Muttom. The programme aimed to extend a helping hand to the needy inmates of Pakal Veedu under the Swanthanam Charitable Society through a meaningful festive activity.

The department conducted a Christmas cake sale in the college from 19th December to 24th December. Different varieties of cakes in various flavours and quantities were made available for sale among teachers, office staff, and students. The cake varieties included:

Plum Cake – 560 gm – Rs. 250

Plum Cake – 1 kg – Rs. 400

Carrot Cake – 560 gm – Rs. 235

Pineapple Cake – 560 gm – Rs. 235

Dates Cake – 280 gm – Rs. 130

Guava Cake – 280 gm – Rs. 130

Tea Cake – 280 gm – Rs. 130

Plum Cake – 280 gm – Rs. 140

Coffee Cake – 280 gm – Rs. 130

Pineapple Cake – 280 gm – Rs. 130

Sri. M.K. Sreenivasan, faculty member of the Department of Mathematics, served as the coordinator of the programme. The initiative received wholehearted support and active participation from the Principal, teachers of various departments, office staff, and students of the college.

The formal inauguration of the sale was marked by the first purchase made by the Principal, Dr. Venu S., who handed over the first sale to the Office Superintendent, Smt. Rajalekshmi.









The amount collected through the cake sale was later handed over to the Secretary of the Swanthanam Charitable Society. The programme became a model example of social commitment and compassion, reflecting the department’s dedication towards community service and humanitarian values.

The Department of Mathematics has been regularly organizing such charity initiatives during festival seasons every year. Through programmes like “Maths with Heart,” the department continues to spread the spirit of kindness, sharing, and social responsibility among students and the academic community.
