The session centered on the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, which was jointly awarded to Dr. Mary E. Brunkow, Dr. Fred Ramsdell, and Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi for their groundbreaking discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance.
The event's highlight was an engaging presentation delivered by third year Bsc. Zoology student, Krishnaja A, demonstrating the department’s commitment to academic excellence and student-led learning. The presentation, focused on the trio of laureates who cracked the code of how our body prevents its own immune system from turning destructive—the basis of autoimmune diseases.
The event, organized by the Zoology Department, was a resounding success, serving not only as an academic exercise but also as an inspiration for the students to pursue research and contribute to the rapidly evolving fields of biology and medicine. It showcased how even complex, cutting-edge Nobel-winning research can be clearly and passionately communicated by the next generation of scientists at TKMM College. The presentation provided a clear breakdown of the discoveries that earned the 2025 Nobel Prize in Medicine.
