Orientation Programme: S1 UG & PG Students

The orientation programme for S1 UG and PG students, organized by IQAC held on December 5, 2023, aimed to provide new students with insights into academic and extracurricular aspects, foster motivation, and facilitate personality development.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Divya Dinesh, convenor, Criterion II, setting the tone for the day. Dr. Divya extended her greetings to the new batch of students and emphasized the significance of the orientation in providing a comprehensive understanding of the academic environment.

Dr. P. P. Sharmila, the Principal, presided over the occasion with her presence and shared valuable insights into the institution's ethos and commitment to academic excellence. Her words resonated with the students, instilling a sense of pride and responsibility in being part of the institution.

Dr. R. Raveendran, Special officer-Academics, SN Trusts, Kollam, in his motivational address, captivated the audience with insights into academic excellence and personal development. He highlighted the importance of setting goals, staying motivated, and nurturing a positive mindset. Dr. Raveendran's session aimed at inspiring the students to make the most of their academic journey and to develop into well-rounded individuals.

The orientation programme featured two dedicated sessions catering to the diverse academic disciplines. The first session focused on students pursuing BA, BCom, and MCom programs, while the second session catered to the specific needs of BSc and MSc students.

Session 1 (BA, BCom, MCom):

   - Overview of the academic curriculum and structure.

   - Introduction to department heads and faculty members.

   - Guidance on elective choices and career pathways.

   - Briefing on extracurricular activities and student clubs.

 Session 2 (BSc, MSc):

   - Overview of the scientific curriculum and research opportunities.

   - Introduction to laboratory facilities and resources.

   - Guidance on specialization options.

   - Information on industry collaborations and internships.

Dr. T. Sreeja, IQAC Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and participants. She encouraged the students to actively engage in the upcoming semester and take advantage of the resources available.
