NCC Cadets Engage in

"Puneet Sagar Abhiyan" at Azhikal Beach

On August 17, 2023, a team of 24 enthusiastic NCC cadets from TKMM College embarked on a mission to contribute to the cleanliness and preservation of our environment by participating in the flagship national campaign known as 'Puneet Sagar Abhiyan.' The initiative aimed to clean the beaches of plastic and other waste materials while raising awareness about the significance of maintaining cleanliness.

Objective:

The primary objective of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan was to address the growing concern of plastic pollution and waste accumulation on beaches. By actively participating in this campaign, the NCC cadets aimed to not only clean up the Azhikal Beach but also inspire and educate the local community and visitors about the importance of keeping our natural habitats free from waste.

Event Details:

The event took place at Azhikal Beach, a serene coastal area known for its scenic beauty. The cadets, under the guidance of NCC instructors, organized a comprehensive clean-up drive. Armed with gloves, bags, and a strong determination to make a positive impact, the cadets combed through the beach area, collecting plastic waste, discarded materials, and debris.

The initiative received overwhelming support from the local community and passersby, who joined hands with the cadets in the cleaning effort. The collaborative spirit showcased the collective responsibility and commitment to environmental preservation.

Results and Achievements:

During the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan at Azhikal Beach, the NCC cadets collected an impressive 18 bags of garbage, which were later properly segregated and deposited in the local municipality's designated waste disposal site. The waste included various forms of plastic, packaging materials, and other non-biodegradable items that posed a threat to the marine ecosystem.

The NCC cadets of TKMM College demonstrated a remarkable commitment to environmental stewardship by participating in the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. Through their dedication and hard work, they not only cleaned up Azhikal Beach but also left a lasting impact on the local community by spreading awareness about the urgent need to protect our natural resources. Mathematics Join Hands with Oachira

On the auspicious occasion of the 77th Independence Day of India, the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Oachira Grama Panchayath, organized a unique and impactful celebration. The event aimed to honor the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and instill a sense of patriotism and unity among the youth. The commemoration involved a photoshoot with statues of iconic freedom fighters, reflecting the significance of their roles in India's struggle for independence.

Students of the first year BSc Mathematics program enthusiastically participated in a photoshoot organized by the Panchayath. The event took place at the Oachira venue, where statues of prominent freedom fighters who played pivotal roles in India's fight for freedom were displayed.

The statues of revered leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, and several others were prominently placed. This strategic placement aimed to emphasize the significance of their contributions to the nation's independence struggle and to educate the younger generation about their legacy. This interactive and educational experience provided students with a tangible connection to history and an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by these leaders.

Guided by HoD, Renjini S and Mathematics Faculty, Sinumol S, the students' participation went beyond mere photographs. The event inspired them to internalize the values of national unity, integrity, and democracy. During the event, the students took a solemn pledge to safeguard the nation's independence and contribute to its development. They expressed their commitment to spreading the message of unity and integrity among their peers and the broader community.

The event was a remarkable initiative that blended historical remembrance with the aspirations of the youth. The event's focus on iconic freedom fighters and the principles they stood for served as a powerful reminder of India's journey to freedom. Through the photoshoot and the accompanying pledge, the students displayed their unwavering dedication to upholding the ideals of the nation. The event successfully united history, education, and patriotism, leaving a lasting impact on the participants and the community at large.

Independence Day Celebrations: An NSS-

TKMMC Initiative (15 August 2023)

Independence Day, was celebrated with fervor and dedication at TKMM College, Nangiarkulangara. The college's National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, under the guidance of Programme Officers, Sri Sanoop Sivaraman & Dr. Sreejith Krishnan, organized a meaningful and impactful cleaning activity to commemorate the occasion.

Following the flag hoisting and the Independence Day program, the NSS unit of TKMM College initiated a cleanliness drive on the campus premises and in its surrounding areas. This initiative aimed to reinforce the spirit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign) and instill a sense of social responsibility among the participants.

Guided by POs, the NSS volunteers actively participated in the cleaning activity. The cleaning drive encompassed various tasks such as picking up litter, clearing debris, and promoting proper waste disposal methods. The volunteers worked in teams, collaborating to cover different sections of the campus and its vicinity.

The Independence Day celebrations and the NSS cleaning activity at TKMM College, Nangiarkulangara, were a resounding success. The event served as a meaningful tribute to India's struggle for freedom and a demonstration of the college's commitment to societal well-being. Through the collective efforts of the NSS volunteers, the campus and its surroundings were revitalized, promoting the ideals of cleanliness and responsible citizenship.

KANALFEST-2023: Self-defence training &

debate (NSS-TKMMC)

National Service Scheme in association with Women and Child Development Department, Government of Kerala conducted an awareness campaign on 17-08-2023 at seminar hall for students against sexism and exploitation of women and child against sexual, physical and mental abuses. College principal Dr. P. P. Sharmila presided over the meeting and Smt. Sijoy Thomas, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Sakthi delivered the welcome address. Smt Sahini S S, Child Development Project Officer, Mavelikara inaugurated the session followed by self defence class for girls students organised by Kerala police crime branch and demonstrated by Smt Sulekha Prasad , Asst Sub inspector , Crime Branch Alapuzha. Students effectively participated in the class and was followed by a heated debate on the topic “Benevolent Sexism’’ moderated by Ms Athira M Raj, Assistant Professor, Dept of English. Students effectively defended their points for and against the topic. NSS program Officer Mr Sanoop Sivaraman conveyed vote of thanks for the gathering.

The awareness campaign against sexism and exploitation of women and children organized by the National Service Scheme, in association with the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Kerala, proved to be a significant step in addressing these critical issues. Through self-defense training and a stimulating debate, the event not only educated students but also empowered them to be vigilant, informed, and proactive advocates against sexism and exploitation. The campaign underlined the importance of collaborative efforts in building a safer and more respectful society for all.
