programmes
TIME:

The counsellor Shruti BS interacted with B.Sc.
IC (S3) students and she reported that building rapport with this team was easy. She discussed the importance of
Suicide Prevention Day and the various
reasons behind suicide as per the population statistics of suicide. Later, the
counsellor discussed the theme "creating hope through action “, the
importance of implementing action plans to prevent suicide in our society, and
the importance of WHO’s intervention strategy ‘LIVE-LIFE’. The counsellor wraps
up the session by discussing the various self-care strategies.
Time:
11.45 pm – 12.45 pm
Second
session was with M. Com (S1 & S3) students.
This
group was a little more serious. They were totally new batch to JEEVANI
project. The counsellor gave a brief introduction of the project. As a part of
building rapport, the counsellor asked them about their college life, future
goals, and about their faculties. Rapport building was not easy with this group
because all of them had ego-defence mechanisms. However, with the partial
rapport with the students, the counsellor discussed the relevance of suicide
prevention day, population statistics of suicide, and the importance of the
theme, ‘creating hope through action’. The counsellor ended the session by
discussing the importance of building resilience among emerging adults.
Time:
2.45 pm – 4.00 pm
A general
awareness special session on suicide prevention was held for students in the
college seminar hall to round off the day. Smt. Preetha M V, the jeevani
teacher in charge, gave an introductory statement, and first-year BA economics student Smt. Haira offered
