Equipping Future Professionals: PG Department of Commerce Hosts Certificate Distribution for Advanced Course in GST, ITR, and Tally Prime

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, the College Seminar Hall at TKMM College, Nangiarkulangara, bustled with pride and achievement. The Post Graduate Department of Commerce, in joint collaboration with SG Academy and Associates, Thiruvananthapuram, successfully hosted the Certificate Distribution Ceremony for its highly sought-after 120-Hour Advanced Certificate Course.

The comprehensive program focused on GST Simulation, ITR Simulation, and GST Accounting with Tally Prime Gold Software Release 7.0, aiming to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial practice.

The rigorous 120-hour curriculum combined deep conceptual knowledge with intensive practical exposure:

Practical Training: 90 Hours of intensive offline practical sessions conducted in the College Computer Lab.

Online Framework: 30 Hours of live interactive sessions and comprehensive assessments via Google Meet.

Core Competencies: Real-time simulations of GST filings, Income Tax Return (ITR) processing, and corporate bookkeeping using modern software tools.

The afternoon session began at 1:30 PM with an audience comprised of enthusiastic students, faculty members, and external industry dignitaries. The event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Venu S, Principal of TKMM College, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the growing demand for skill-oriented certifications in higher education. He commended the Commerce Department for taking proactive steps to make students career-ready and job-competent from day one.

The gathering benefited immensely from the presence of the course's key resource person, CMA Shibu Gopi, an eminent Cost and Management Accountant (FCMA). With his vast academic and professional experience, he shared brief, encouraging words with the graduates on how to leverage their newly acquired accounting skills in a rapidly evolving financial market.

The smooth execution of the certificate course was organized under the guidance of Dr. Berny B. Raj, Assistant Professor & Head of the PG Department of Commerce, who also served as the course coordinator.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of certificates to the successful candidates. Students proudly stepped up to the podium to receive their credentials from the Principal, the HOD, and visiting dignitaries.

These certificates represent more than just hours logged in a lab; they signify a tangible professional skill set that sets these students apart in competitive job markets. The function concluded with a group photograph celebrating the collective success of the batch
