Celebrating Nature: T K Madhava Memorial College Hosts World Environment Day 2026

On June 5, 2026, T K Madhava Memorial (TKMM) College, Nangiarkulangara, served as the proud venue for a grand World Environment Day celebration. The event was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by the Department of Zoology (TKMM College), the Kerala Forest & Wildlife Department (Social Forestry Wing, Alappuzha), and the Alappuzha Natural History Society (ANHS).

The initiative was driven by a powerful message: "Let's reclaim the earth and preserve it for the next generation." Through speeches, awareness campaigns, and tree-planting activities, the event aimed to instill a deep sense of environmental responsibility among students and the local community.

Event Highlights & Inauguration

The program commenced at 10:30 AM, bringing together environmental enthusiasts, local leaders, and students. The official inauguration was marked by insightful addresses from esteemed guests who emphasized the urgent need for biodiversity conservation and climate action. Following the formal meeting, a sapling plantation drive was conducted to put these green pledges into action.

A Season of Triumph: Celebrating Our NCC Cadets' Stellar Achievements

 

                                 






















         


T. K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, is bursting with pride as we celebrate the phenomenal accomplishments of our NCC cadets from the 8(K) BN Mavelikkara unit. Over the past few months, our dedicated cadets have showcased exceptional discipline, marksmanship, and commitment, bringing immense glory to our institution across various prestigious camps and competitions.


🥇 Medal Winners

We extend our highest congratulations to our cadets who stood on the podium and brought home medals this year:

  • L/CPL Simi Varghese: Clinched the Gold Medal at the (TSC) Inter Battalion Competition 2026.

  • L/CPL Sanjana: Secured the Silver Medal at the Inter Group Sports Shooting Competition 2026.

🎯 Sports Shooting & IDSSC Camp Selections

Our cadets demonstrated incredible focus and precision, earning consecutive selections in highly competitive shooting camps. L/CPL Sanjana and L/CPL Aiswarya have been on a rigorous and successful journey through the shooting circuit:

  • IGC IDSSC-1: Selected and participated at Don Bosco School, Kollam (April 18 – April 27).

  • Pre - IGSSC - 3: Selected and participated at MGD High Secondary School, Kundara, Kollam (May 11 – May 20).

  • Pre - IGSSC - 4: Selected and participated at St. Francis HSS, Arthungal (May 20 – May 29).

This rigorous preparation culminated in L/CPL Sanjana's selection for the Inter Group Sports Shooting Competition held at the Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology, Vellanad (June 1 – June 10), where her hard work paid off with a Silver Medal finish!

🎖️ TSC Firing & Advanced Training Camps

Our cadets also excelled in the Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) firing selections and specialized technical training during the month of May:

TSC Firing Pre IGC Selections:

  • L/CPL Simi Varghese & SGT M. Ramananda: Successfully selected for TSC Firing PRE IGC - 1 at BRM School, Changamanadu (May 7 – May 16), and advanced to TSC Firing PRE IGC - 2 at St. Francis HSS, Arthungal (May 20 – May 29).

  • UO Adithyan S V: Selected for TSC (OT) Pre IGC - 1, held at St. Francis HSS, Arthungal (May 20 – May 29).

Specialized Technical Training:

  • L/CPL Sreehari S: Selected for the highly sought-after DRONE Training Camp, hosted at St. Francis HSS, Arthungal (May 20 – May 29).

Exploring the Educational Vision of Sree Narayana Guru- DARSHAN Seminar Series 2025

 



On May 30, 2026, T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara successfully hosted an insightful online multidisciplinary seminar titled DARSHAN'26. The virtual event brought together students, faculty, and scholars to reflect on the profound teachings of one of Kerala's greatest social reformers.

The seminar was a collaborative effort, organized jointly by the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Department of Oriental Languages, and the Department of English. This multidisciplinary approach highlighted the universal relevance of the seminar's core theme: "The Educational Philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru."

The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed Dr. C. Lekha. Dr. Lekha brings a wealth of academic experience to the subject, serving as:

  • Associate Professor & Former HOD, Department of Malayalam at Sree Narayana College, Cherthala.

  • Academic Counsellor in Malayalam for Sree Narayana Guru Open University.

Her deep understanding of Malayalam literature and Sree Narayana Guru's social impact provided attendees with a rich, nuanced perspective on how his philosophies continue to shape modern education and social equality.

The evening session proved to be an engaging platform for academic discourse, reinforcing T.K. Madhava Memorial College's commitment to delivering value-based, liberating education in line with its founding principles.

Empowering the Next Generation of Achievers at T. K. Madhava Memorial College

Navigating the transition from higher secondary education to university life can be a daunting experience for many students. To bridge this gap and provide crucial clarity, T. K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, successfully hosted an exclusive Online Career Guidance & FYUGP Orientation on May 28, 2026.

Designed specifically for Plus Two students preparing to take their next major academic leap, the programme aimed to align ambitious young minds with the right educational pathways, staying true to our institutional motto: Liberate through Education.

The highlight of the evening was a comprehensive session led by the esteemed Sri. Ratheesh Kumar S, renowned Career Counsellor and Anchor at Doordarshan Career Point. Bringing his wealth of experience to the virtual stage, he provided students with a structured roadmap for navigating the newly introduced Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).

Throughout the engaging 7:00 PM session, the core focus remained on actionable advice. Key highlights of his address included:

  • Exploring the Right Career Path: Moving beyond traditional choices to uncover modern, high-demand opportunities.

  • Gaining Clarity & Expert Guidance: Breaking down complex FYUGP structures into digestible, easy-to-understand concepts.

  • Making Informed Decisions: Equipping students with the analytical tools needed to choose courses that align with their personal strengths and professional goals.

To ensure the guidance didn't end when the virtual meeting closed, the college established a dedicated WhatsApp community. By scanning a QR code provided during the promotional campaign, hundreds of prospective students were able to join a supportive network, allowing for continued discussion, updates, and peer-to-peer connection.

As a NAAC Accredited 'A' Grade institution, T. K. Madhava Memorial College remains deeply committed to fostering academic brilliance and career readiness from day one. Bidding Adieu to Pillars of Our Institution: A Memorable Farewell Hosted by 'Madhavam'

 




On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the Seminar Hall at T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, was filled with warmth, gratitude, and a touch of nostalgia. The 'Madhavam' Alumni Association organized a beautiful farewell ceremony to honor two esteemed members of our college community who are stepping into their well-deserved retirement.

The event celebrated the decades of service and dedication of:

  • Prof. (Dr.) S. Sheela, Head of the Department of Zoology

  • Smt. Rajalakshmi P.R., Office Superintendent

Highlights of the Ceremony

The program commenced at 11:00 AM with a solemn prayer, setting a respectful tone for the day. It was a gathering of current staff, former colleagues, and alumni who came together to share memories and express their appreciation.

The formal proceedings featured several key addresses and traditional honors:

  • Welcome Address: Delivered by Prof. Srimon P., Secretary of Madhavam.

  • Presidential Address: Given by Sri. B. Ravikumar, President of Madhavam.

  • Inauguration & Gift Presentation: Led by Sri. S. Salikumar, Convenor, RDC.

  • Keynote Address: Dr. Venu S., Principal of TKMM College, shared insightful words reflecting on the honorees' enduring impact on the institution.

Honoring Their Legacy A highlight of the morning was the traditional honoring of the retirees. Prof. C.M. Lohithan (Former Principal & Patron of Madhavam) presented a portrait of Gurudeva, while Dr. S.B. Sreejaya (Former Principal & Patron of Madhavam) led the beautiful Ponnada ceremony, draping the honorees as a mark of highest respect.

Following warm felicitations by Sri. Sunil Kochereth and Sri. N.S. Sajikumar, both Prof. Dr. S. Sheela and Smt. Rajalakshmi P.R. took the stage to deliver heartfelt reply speeches, reflecting on their journeys and the bonds forged over the years.

A Lasting Bond

The formal event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sri. Mukesh M. Afterward, the teaching and non-teaching staff gathered for a grand group photograph—a beautiful snapshot of the unity and camaraderie that defines our campus.

Constituted by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala, this award recognizes the brightest academic minds across the state. Bhagya was specifically selected for her meritorious aggregate achievement in the Under Graduate Examinations conducted by universities in Kerala during the 2022–23 academic year.
