DARSHAN'23:Sree Narayana Study Cell
World Peace Through Unitive Understanding
January 5, 2024
The Sree Narayana Study Cell of the college organized
a one-day seminar as part of the Darshan Seminar D23, a Multidisciplinary
seminar series held on 05/01/2023. The chosen topic for discussion was
"WORLD PEACE THROUGH UNITIVE UNDERSTANDING," a highly relevant theme
given the prevalent global conflicts. The session was chaired by the Honourable
Principal, Dr. P P Sharmila, and Sri Sanoop Sivaraman, the Coordinator of Sree
Narayana Study Cell, delivered the welcome address.
The introduction to the speaker, Dr. P.K. Sabu, a Lay Disciple of Narayana Gurukulam, was provided by Kum Adithya V of S3 B.Com TT. Dr. Satheesh Kumar S then delivered a felicitation. Dr. Sabu presented the subject in a simple manner, focusing on the inner meaning of the term "unitive." The discussion during the interaction highlighted that the world is divided by various factors such as country, caste, religion, ethnicity, racism, and nationalism. These divisions lead to different classes vying for dominance, often resulting in conflicts and wars.
Dr. Sabu emphasized that the root of war lies in the minds of people, and the solution lies in the renaissance of human minds. The concept of "unitive understanding" was explored, with a focus on biological unity, where individuals from different backgrounds can form relationships without hindrance. Additionally, geographical unity was discussed, challenging the existing divisions created for power and wealth.
The speaker stressed that recognizing the shared human experience and global issues can dissolve national barriers. Nationalistic thoughts in people's minds contribute to the existence of these barriers. Therefore, fostering unity and understanding is crucial for achieving global peace.
Smt Soumya V S, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, extended a vote of thanks to conclude the session. The seminar shed light on the comprehensive and profound meaning of the term "unitive" in the context of promoting global peace and unity among diverse communities.
