 Darshan'23: Post Graduate Department of Chemistry

"Chemistry is Your Best Friend"

It was the turn of PG Department of Chemistry to organise a Seminar as a part of Darshan'23, on the 17th of January 2024 at the Seminar Hall. The theme of the seminar was aptly titled "Chemistry is Your Best Friend." The event aimed to explore and celebrate the myriad applications of chemistry in our daily lives, emphasizing its importance as a companion in various aspects.

The event commenced with a soulful prayer by Bhavya, invoking blessings for the success of the seminar, which was followed by a warm welcome by Dr. Smitha T R, the Head of the Department. She set the tone for the seminar, expressing her enthusiasm for the subject and the day's proceedings. Dr. P P Sharmila, the Principal of the institution, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of chemistry in the academic and real-world context. She emphasized the role of such seminars in fostering knowledge and curiosity among students.














Dr. T. Sreeja, the IQAC Coordinator, and Ms. Pooja, the Union Chairperson, felicitated the gathering, acknowledging the efforts put into organizing the seminar. Their words of encouragement added an extra layer of motivation. Smt. Savitha E V, a faculty member, introduced the esteemed speaker for the day, creating an aura of anticipation and excitement among the audience.

Sri Gopakumar G, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Govt. Polytechnic College, Ezhukone delivered an insightful keynote address, delving into the diverse facets of chemistry. He elucidated how chemistry is not just a subject but indeed our best friend, influencing every aspect of our lives. With a captivating presence, Sri Gopakumar began his address by acknowledging the universal perception of chemistry as a challenging subject. However, he swiftly shifted the narrative, asserting that chemistry is not merely a subject confined to textbooks but a dynamic force intertwined with our daily lives. He meticulously delved into the diverse facets of chemistry, illustrating its pervasive influence on various aspects of our existence. From the food we consume to the air we breathe, Sri Gopakumar painted a vivid picture of how chemistry is intricately woven into the fabric of our daily experiences.

The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri. N. Saneeshkumar, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, expressing gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their contributions to the success of the seminar.

Pooja Ajith and Alisha Hasna, S1 MSc students, the Masters of Ceremony, orchestrated the event smoothly, ensuring a seamless flow of activities.

The seminar proved to be an enlightening and engaging platform, fostering a deeper appreciation for the subject of chemistry. The collective efforts of the organizing committee, the dynamic speakers, and the enthusiastic audience contributed to making the seminar a resounding success. The event not only enhanced the understanding of chemistry but also reinforced the idea that indeed, "Chemistry is Your Best Friend."
