The Power of Math: Opening Doors to Every Subject

The Department of Mathematics, TKMM College, Nangiarkulangara, Haripad, Alappuzha, as the part of the Darshan 2023 Multidisciplinary Seminar Series, conducted a lecture on the topic “The Power of Math: Opening Doors to Every Subject” on January 22, 2024 at the Seminar Hall. The theme of the seminar was aptly titled and the event aimed to explore and celebrate the innumerable applications of Mathematics in our daily lives, emphasizing its prominence in every subject.

The event commenced with a soulful prayer by the Department Choir, beseeching blessings for the success of the seminar, which was followed by a warm welcome by Smt. Renjini S, the Head of the Department. Dr. P P Sharmila, the Principal of the institution, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of Mathematics in her own subject Physics as well as in other academic and real-world context. Dr. Rajeev S R, HOD, Dept of Economics, and Dr. Smitha T R, HOD, Dept of Chemistry felicitated the function offering full support and cooperation of their departments.

Sri Renjith Kumar Y, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, M.S.M. College, Kaymakam delivered an insightful keynote address, probing into the diverse planes of Mathematics. He explained how Mathematics to be learned not just as a subject but indeed an approach to its application in every subject and throughout the life. He meticulously delved into the diverse facets of Mathematics, exemplifying its universal influence on various aspects of our survival.  Students from diverse disciplines, including Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Economics, shared their feedback and expressed gratitude for the seminar. The concluding vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sreeja V, IQAC member, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry.
