Navigating the transition from higher secondary education to university life can be a daunting experience for many students. To bridge this gap and provide crucial clarity, T. K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, successfully hosted an exclusive Online Career Guidance & FYUGP Orientation on May 28, 2026.

Designed specifically for Plus Two students preparing to take their next major academic leap, the programme aimed to align ambitious young minds with the right educational pathways, staying true to our institutional motto: Liberate through Education.

The highlight of the evening was a comprehensive session led by the esteemed Sri. Ratheesh Kumar S, renowned Career Counsellor and Anchor at Doordarshan Career Point. Bringing his wealth of experience to the virtual stage, he provided students with a structured roadmap for navigating the newly introduced Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).

Throughout the engaging 7:00 PM session, the core focus remained on actionable advice. Key highlights of his address included:

  • Exploring the Right Career Path: Moving beyond traditional choices to uncover modern, high-demand opportunities.

  • Gaining Clarity & Expert Guidance: Breaking down complex FYUGP structures into digestible, easy-to-understand concepts.

  • Making Informed Decisions: Equipping students with the analytical tools needed to choose courses that align with their personal strengths and professional goals.

To ensure the guidance didn't end when the virtual meeting closed, the college established a dedicated WhatsApp community. By scanning a QR code provided during the promotional campaign, hundreds of prospective students were able to join a supportive network, allowing for continued discussion, updates, and peer-to-peer connection.

Bidding Adieu to Pillars of Our Institution: A Memorable Farewell Hosted by 'Madhavam'

 




On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the Seminar Hall at T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, was filled with warmth, gratitude, and a touch of nostalgia. The 'Madhavam' Alumni Association organized a beautiful farewell ceremony to honor two esteemed members of our college community who are stepping into their well-deserved retirement.

The event celebrated the decades of service and dedication of:

  • Prof. (Dr.) S. Sheela, Head of the Department of Zoology

  • Smt. Rajalakshmi P.R., Office Superintendent

Highlights of the Ceremony

The program commenced at 11:00 AM with a solemn prayer, setting a respectful tone for the day. It was a gathering of current staff, former colleagues, and alumni who came together to share memories and express their appreciation.

The formal proceedings featured several key addresses and traditional honors:

  • Welcome Address: Delivered by Prof. Srimon P., Secretary of Madhavam.

  • Presidential Address: Given by Sri. B. Ravikumar, President of Madhavam.

  • Inauguration & Gift Presentation: Led by Sri. S. Salikumar, Convenor, RDC.

  • Keynote Address: Dr. Venu S., Principal of TKMM College, shared insightful words reflecting on the honorees' enduring impact on the institution.

Honoring Their Legacy A highlight of the morning was the traditional honoring of the retirees. Prof. C.M. Lohithan (Former Principal & Patron of Madhavam) presented a portrait of Gurudeva, while Dr. S.B. Sreejaya (Former Principal & Patron of Madhavam) led the beautiful Ponnada ceremony, draping the honorees as a mark of highest respect.

Following warm felicitations by Sri. Sunil Kochereth and Sri. N.S. Sajikumar, both Prof. Dr. S. Sheela and Smt. Rajalakshmi P.R. took the stage to deliver heartfelt reply speeches, reflecting on their journeys and the bonds forged over the years.

A Lasting Bond

The formal event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sri. Mukesh M. Afterward, the teaching and non-teaching staff gathered for a grand group photograph—a beautiful snapshot of the unity and camaraderie that defines our campus.

Constituted by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala, this award recognizes the brightest academic minds across the state. Bhagya was specifically selected for her meritorious aggregate achievement in the Under Graduate Examinations conducted by universities in Kerala during the 2022–23 academic year.

Nobel Week 2026: Delving into the 'Master of Apocalypse' organized by Department of English, Dept. of Oriental Languages & IQAC




As part of the academic enrichment initiatives for Nobel Week, the Department of English  hosted a profound literary session titled "Introducing the Master of Apocalypse: Life and Works of László Krasznahorkai." Dedicated to the 2025 Nobel Laureate in Literature, the event provided an in-depth exploration of the Hungarian author's complex and visionary narratives. Attendees were guided through Krasznahorkai's uniquely dense, melancholic prose and his signature apocalyptic themes that ultimately earned him global literary acclaim.

The collaborative effort between the language departments, the library, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) ensured a highly engaging, high-quality academic discourse that left literature enthusiasts with much to ponder regarding contemporary global fiction.

A Historic Milestone for TKMMC: UO Adithyan S V and UO Nithya Kalesh Represents Kerala & Lakshadweep Directorate at Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026

 


The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of T.K. Madhava Memorial College, Nangiarkulangara, has scripted a glorious chapter in its institutional history. In an extraordinary achievement that has brought immense honor to our campus, Under Officers (UO) Adithyan S V and (U.O)Nithya Kalesh was officially selected to represent the Kerala & Lakshadweep Directorate at the prestigious Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026 in New Delhi.

The Republic Day Camp is the absolute pinnacle of an NCC cadet's journey, involving months of grueling selection rounds, intense physical trials, and rigorous training camps at various levels. Standing out among thousands of aspirants from across the region, UO Adithyan S V proved his mettle through sheer discipline, exceptional skill, and unwavering determination.

As a part of the select directorate contingent, UO Adithyan S V and Nithya Kalesh   had the rare and profound privilege of participating in the PM Rally on January 28, 2026. Performing on such a grand national stage in the presence of the Prime Minister and top military dignitaries is a testament to his high standard of training, exceptional drill coordination, and true leadership qualities.

This momentous achievement reflects not only their relentless hard work but also the stellar guidance, support, and rigorous training culture fostered by the college's NCC wing and the 8 (K) BN Mavelikkara.

"Science in Every Drop": Hands-On Water Quality Workshop for High School Students

 




In a fantastic community outreach initiative, the PG Department of Chemistry organized a dedicated hands-on workshop for local high school students titled "Science in Every Drop – Exploring Water Quality Through Simple Experiments." This event was conducted as part of the STREAM Ecosystem Project (Spadikam 2025–26).

Guided by Head of Department Smt. Aswathy S. P., Coordinator Dr. Anju S. Appukuttan, and their dedicated organizing committee, the workshop bridged the gap between theoretical science and practical application.

Visiting high schoolers transitioned from classroom orientations to active laboratory experiments. Under the careful supervision of the college faculty and chemistry students, the young learners gained practical exposure to:

  • Physicochemical parameters of water

  • Testing for pH, Hardness, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), COD, and BOD

  • Proper sampling and testing methodologies

  • Basic instrumental analysis

The interactive sessions, filled with color-changing titrations and lab equipment demonstrations, successfully sparked scientific curiosity and emphasized the critical importance of water quality monitoring to the next generation of potential scientists.

Celebrating Avian Wonders: National Bird Day Quiz 2026

 






To commemorate National Bird Day and foster ecological awareness among the student community, the NSS Unit and the Department of Zoology jointly hosted an engaging "Bird Quiz." The event aimed to test and expand the participants' knowledge regarding avian species, conservation, and biodiversity.

The competition was dynamically led by Quiz Master Ananthakrishnan B., an NSS volunteer and 2nd-year BSc Zoology student. The event coordinators, Devan and Shreya, ensured the smooth execution of the competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from various departments.

The quiz proved to be an excellent initiative to combine competitive spirit with environmental education.
