The Department of Mathematics spearheaded the "Clean Campus Green Campus Drive-2" on March 25, 2024, with a focus on revitalizing the college's green spaces. Led by the final year BSc Mathematics students, the initiative involved the removal of dried plants from the garden in front of the department, which were then replaced with fresh, vibrant ones.



Despite the scorching summer heat, the students showed admirable dedication to enhancing the campus environment. Beyond garden rejuvenation, they also undertook a thorough cleaning of the surrounding premises, highlighting their commitment to maintaining a clean and green campus.

Under the guidance of M K Sreenivasan, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics, the students displayed remarkable teamwork and enthusiasm. Their efforts not only beautified the campus but also underscored the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. The initiative serves as a shining example of proactive community engagement and sets a precedent for future sustainability efforts within the college.

 Mathematics Participation in Sports Day

 On March 12, 2024, the Department of Physical Education organized a vibrant Sports Day. Students from the Department of Mathematics showcased their athletic prowess by participating in both the Cricket Tournament for men and the Football Tournament for men.










 The event commenced with great fanfare as Dr. Sharmila P P inaugurated the Sports Day. In a symbolic gesture, she bowled to Dr. Satheesh Kumar, the Head of the Department of Politics, who was at the batting position. This moment marked the beginning of an exciting and spirited day.

 The atmosphere was electric, with students embracing the spirit of competition with enthusiasm. Their energy and determination infused the event with excitement, making it a memorable occasion for all involved.

 Mathematics Participation - College Day Celebrations – Premalu

The College Day celebrations, known as Premalu, held on March 5, 2024, witnessed enthusiastic participation from various departments, including the Department of Mathematics. The final year BSc Mathematics students presented a stunning Cinematic Fusion dance performance that captivated the audience.

 





The students' performance was characterized by its vibrancy, energy, and grace. Dressed in colorful costumes, they showcased a blend of different dance styles, seamlessly weaving together classical and contemporary elements. The choreography was intricate, highlighting the students' talent and dedication.

The performance was not only entertaining but also a testament to the students' hard work and creativity. It reflected the spirit of celebration and unity that defines College Day festivities at our institution. The Department of Mathematics can be proud of their students' outstanding performance, which added to the success of Premalu.

 Mathematics Participation in Arts Day- Kalayattam

The Arts Day Celebrations, known as Kalayattam, held on February 27th and 28th, 2024, were a vibrant display of talent and creativity. The Department of Mathematics enthusiastically participated in the festivities organized by the College Union, DISA 2023-24. On the 27th, a Cultural Procession marked the beginning of the celebrations at 11 am, with all students of the Mathematics Department actively involved. The procession must have been a colorful and lively affair, showcasing the department's unity and spirit.




The following day, on February 28th, the first-year students of BSc Mathematics showcased their talents through a mesmerizing group dance performance. The theme of the dance was spiritual and holistic, adding a profound and meaningful touch to the event. The students, aptly described as the butterflies of the department, adorned themselves in colorful dresses, adding to the visual splendor of the performance. Their graceful movements and synchronized steps surely captivated the audience, making the Mathematics Department proud participants in the Kalayattam celebrations.

 Exploring Goa: A Mathematical Adventure

5-9 February 2024

The Department of Mathematics organized an exciting tour for final year BSc Mathematics students, exploring the beautiful destination of Goa from 5th to 9th February 2024. The journey began with a thrilling train ride to Goa, setting a lively tone for the entire trip.

 




During their three-day stay in Goa, students, accompanied by three faculty members, enjoyed a wide range of activities that showcased the best of what Goa has to offer. They explored iconic landmarks such as the Aguada fort, Coco beach, Old Goa Church, the famous Baga beach, and the Archeological museum, enriching their understanding of the history and culture of the region.

 

One of the highlights of the trip was the variety of water activities available. Students had the opportunity to partake in exhilarating adventures like jetskiing, banana rides, bumper rides, parasailing, and even scuba diving. These activities not only provided an adrenaline rush but also offered a refreshing break from routine academic life.

 

Overall, the tour was a memorable experience for the students, combining fun, adventure, and learning, making it a cherished memory for years to come.

 PTA Meeting of First Year BSc Mathematics

A PTA meeting of first year BSc Mathematics students conducted on February 03,2024 ,Saturday at CG3 class room according to the convenience of parents. The discussions were about the academic performance of the students in the first semester. Renjini S, Tutor and HOD Mathematics showed the internal marks obtained in each subject in their first semester. Parents expressed their concern for the upcoming 4 year degree courses ,whether it will affect these students , how to run two types of degree courses and so on. Dr Preeth M,HOD Statistics could answer all their worries and queries. Dr sharmila P P, the Principal also assured the existence of the running degree program. Discussion on the preparation for second semester were conducted. Sinumol S, Assistant Professor of Mathematics deliverd Vote of thanks. Parents actively participated in discussions clearly stating their opinions and suggestions in making progress on the working of the institution.

 Anti-drug Campaign

As a part of extension activity and best practice of department of Mathematics in connection with Republic day 2024, Department of Mathematics ,TKMM College organized an anti-drug campaign by conducting a procession against drug abuse among the youth in the society. It aims at an awareness for the young generation not to use any kind of narcotics and to take oath that one should not be a user, a carrier for this evil deed. Sinumol s and Dr. Dhanya Shajin, faculty members of the department gave proper guidance and accompanied the students.





Christmas Celebrations

Department of Mathematics celebrated Christmas along with all students in the college on December22, 2023 in a marvellous way, cherished with happiness and spirituality. Students of the department participated in scrub making competition and made a beautiful scrub in front of the courtyard. Students as well as teachers came in red and white dresses and Santa’s cap. The celebration is a reminder of the pain, sacrifice, dedication and service that one should feel for his fellow beings.






 Holi Celebrations

 The Department of Mathematics at our college showcased exceptional enthusiasm and participation during the Holi Celebrations on 26th March 2024. The campus transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors, embodying the essence of this vibrant festival. The festivities kicked off at 2 pm, drawing students from all departments to join in the jubilant occasion.







Students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines came together to revel in the joyous spirit of Holi. They joyfully drenched each other in a myriad of colors, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and the arrival of spring. The air was filled with laughter, music, and the infectious energy of the youth.

The Department of Mathematics, known for its active involvement in cultural events, once again took the lead in organizing and participating in the celebrations. Their commitment to preserving and promoting traditional customs and cultural heritage was evident in their enthusiastic participation and unique approach to celebrating the festival. 

Overall, the Holi Celebrations brought together students from different departments and backgrounds in a spirit of camaraderie and festivity. It was a testament to the vibrant and inclusive culture that thrives within our college campus.


 Certificate distribution ceremony of course on “Scientific 

Waste Management”

Certificate issuing ceremony of course on “Scientific Waste Management” organized by PG Department of Physics, TKMM College Nangiarkulangara, in collaboration with Northamps Global Ecosolutions, Kochi was successfully conducted on 22nd  March 2024 in the college seminar hall. The course was a 30 hour online course.













Certificate courses benefits the students with something extra beyond their regular academics. It serves as an added advantage. PG Department of Physics offered a 32 hour certificate course on “Scientific Waste Management” in collaboration with Northamps Global Ecosolutions, Kochi. In order to assess how the students benefited from this course, the resource persons of Northamps were conducted interactive sessions and examinations regularly. At the end of each class, a feedback form will be distributed among the students. It enhanced the effectiveness of teaching and the quality of the students. The course was completed with cent percent student participation and was well benefited from the course. On the successful completion of the course, PG department of Physics organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the students who were enrolled in the course on 22nd March 2024 in the college seminar hall. Dr. Arun S Prasad, H.o.D, Department of Physics welcomed the audience. The Ceremony was initiated with the opening remarks of Smt. J. Chinchu Rani, Honourable Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Govt. of .Kerala.  The speech was followed by a special address by the College Principal, Dr. P.P. Sharmila who appreciated the efforts of the Physics department and expressed her keen interest in organizing such events in future as well. Ms.Kalyani.S, first year M.Sc Physics student was awarded the “Top Scorer” certificate and Mr. Vaishnav. P, 2nd year B.Sc Physics student was awarded the “Best Performer” certificate.
