    On March 22, 2024, the Department of Zoology set the stage for a momentous occasion—the book launch ceremony for "A Compendium on Non-Native Organisms of India." This seminal work, meticulously crafted by Teachers & students of the department led by Dr. S. Sheela, HoD, promises to unravel the intricate tapestry of non-native organisms that inhabit the diverse landscapes of India. The event was graced by eminent personalities, including Smt. J. Chinchu Rani, Honorable Minister of Animal Husbandry & Diary Development, Government of Kerala, who inaugurated the ceremony amidst an aura of scholarly enthusiasm and Prof. Dr. K. V. Jayachandran, Former Director, KUFOS & Hon. Professor, Department of Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Uiniversity of Kerala.

 Dr. Arun S. Prasad,HoD, Physics,  with warmth and grace, extended a heartfelt welcome to the esteemed gathering, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and intellectual curiosity that defined the occasion.

     Dr. P. P. Sharmila, our esteemed Principal, presided over the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of scholarly pursuits in unravelling the mysteries of biodiversity.
























    Smt. J. Chinchu Rani's presence and insightful remarks at the event added immense value to the occasion. Her emphasis on the importance of understanding and managing non-native organisms in our diverse environment highlighted the need for proactive measures in environmental conservation. Her words resonated with the audience, inspiring them to take concrete actions towards preserving the ecological balance.

    The ceremony gained momentum as Prof. Dr. K. V. Jayachandran, the first author of the compendium, provided a comprehensive overview of the book. With profound insights and scholarly rigor, Dr. Jayachandran delineated the scope and objectives of the compendium, setting the stage for a deeper exploration of India's rich biological heritage.

The luminaries present at the ceremony, including Dr. R. Raveendran, Research Officer, SN Trusts, Sri Asoka Panicker, Convenor, RDC, Sri Salikumar, Chairman, RDC and Dr. T. Sreeja, IQAC Coordinator, adorned the event with their gracious presence.
